Fintech leader Finastra strengthens employee engagement on Omnia
Finastra has implemented Omnia to support its 10,000 employees across the globe in their continuous quest to disrupt the financial services industry with innovative and open platform solutions. The new Omnia-powered intranet will help Finastra enhance internal communications and ensure that its digital workplace drives employee engagement for years to come.
“With Omnia, we have a flexible, robust, and future-oriented employee engagement platform. While our previous intranet was overly complex and technically limiting, Omnia is easy to use, adapt, and integrate with new applications and services. Now we can modernize our digital workplace and meet the demanding needs of our employees today and tomorrow,” says Darko Jaksic, Chief Intranet & Collaboration Governance at Finastra.
Formed in 2017 by merging Misys and D+H, Finastra provides expertise and legacy financial software across retail banking, transaction banking, lending, treasury, and capital markets. The company is one of the world’s largest fintechs and a pioneering force in developing and using innovative financial software. With approximately 10,000 employees and offices in 42 countries, Finastra serves over 8,100 financial institutions, including 45 of the top 50 banks globally.
A flexible and future-oriented platform for growth
Finastra’s previous intranet platform was inflexible and restricted in terms of its ability to allow for integration and the addition of new functionality. Their most pressing need was to integrate Microsoft 365 with the intranet to ensure unified collaboration across the organization.
“When planning our future digital workplace, we conducted thorough market research and reviewed all top-rated platforms, including Omnia. Offering mostly all the functionality we were looking for, it stood out from all the others we studied. None of the other platforms could compare to Omnia in terms of complete functionality,” Darko concludes, adding:
“We expect to add some functions further down the road, but with Omnia, this is easy to do. Its flexible and future-oriented architecture, combined with the development roadmap for Omnia and its customer-oriented approach, convinced us it was the right choice.”
Remote implementation with a strict deadline
The new intranet was launched in less than six months, for all employees, after the implementation project had started. Due to the pandemic, the project was managed exclusively via remote digital communication channels.
“We had a very strict deadline. Our new intranet had to be launched on December 1st and not a day later. Otherwise, we would have been hit by license costs from our old platform for another year. There was a huge amount of content to be migrated into the new platform, requiring more time and effort than originally expected. But we managed to pull it off in time thanks to the meticulous preparatory work we conducted internally”, Darko notes and continues:
“Our preparations included getting every key stakeholder on board and conducting a detailed inventory and analysis of information and functionality needs to nail down the precise requirements for the new intranet. That work really paid off by taking the time to create a solid specifications sheet before the implementation started.”
Modernizing the digital workplace with Omnia
Finastra's new intranet aimed to achieve two primary objectives:
- Implement an intranet platform on which Finastra can evolve and continue modernizing its digital workplace without restrictions.
- Seamless integration of the corporate intranet with Microsoft 365.
The new intranet will significantly enhance internal communications throughout Finastra’s worldwide operations. It’s now a gateway to collaboration tools, company news and other internal information and encompasses everything employees want and need to know to successfully manage their assignments.
“Integrating Omnia with Microsoft 365 was an effortless and smooth process. Overall, the intranet has been well received by users, with one of the features they instantly applauded being the new seamless login. As a result of the integration with Microsoft 365, they are now automatically logged into the intranet. This was not the case before. Other acknowledged improvements are the intranet’s new fresh and welcoming layout, its more advanced notifications possibilities, and much better search functionality”, Darko emphasizes.
